President Buhari, three of his ministers sick; Nigerians react in pain

These are not the best of times for Nigeria, as virtually everything tends to be going wrong.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly ill and had to travel out of the country to seek some medical aid. There have been controversies wrapped around the topic of the president’s health, however, from all indications, all is not really well with  Nigeria’s number one man.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo presided over his first FEC meeting on Wednesday, June 8.
In the same vein, emerging reports suggest that some of the ministers in Buhari’s cabinet are also sick. According to the report, Nigeria’s vice president, Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, June 8, chaired his first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting as acting president of Nigeria.

The Nation reports that only 22 ministers out of 36 ministers were present when the meeting which started by 12.06 p.m in the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information, who offered prayers in Islam praying generally for good FEC deliberation, while Babachir David Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), offered prayers in the Christian way praying specifically for three ministers were down with sickness.

He first prayed for President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently in London on medical vacation, then for the minister of women affairs, Aisha Alhassan, who is recuperating from surgery.

Lawal also prayed for the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, who is suffering from back pain. As the ministers were settling down an unidentified voice reminded the SGF that he forget to include the minister of state for environment, Ibrahim Jubril.

Some Nigerians have taken to social media to air their views regarding the development. Many find the co-incidence of illnesses in the cabinet very strange and some go further to argue that Nigeria is led by people who are not physically fit, hence the reason why the nation in itself is sick.

In reaction to the situation, Bobo Rudeboi said: “There days are numbered, GOD is not a man, law of karma speaks more louder”

Obi Emmanuel took things a bit further, stressing that everything about APC is sick and Nigerians cannot be surprised.

“No wonder our economy is sick because is is being handled by sick people,” Gift Ikwuobodo opined.

Adetifa Ajibola said: “Why will they not be sick? God is angry with them. Poor masses are no longer getting poorer; they are now dying in their numbers since Buhari hijacked power. Things must not continue this way.”

Meanwhile there were some other very patriotic Nigerians who had some kind words for the Nigerian leaders who are ill, some going as for as praying for their quick recuperation.

Abubakar Mubarak Tola was of the opinion that the Nigerian officials needed rest. He said: “The truth of the matter may be the consequence of their assiduous schedule of work. The ministers and Mr president are really hardworking.”

Abdul Musa in defense of Buhari and his ministers, said: “Enemies of progress are fighting them spiritually, God almighty will heal them.”
