SURVEILLANCE OF JONATHAN'S ALLIES: BUHARI UNDER FIRE.
The decision by the Buhari administration to put some close associates and allies of former president, Goodluck Jonathan under surveillance following the on-going crisis in the Niger Delta region has attracted outrage from a section of Nigerians.
Associates of Goodluck Jonathan are suspected of being behind the on-going crisis in the Niger Delta region.
Recall that a top security source on Thursday, June 2 said close associates of Goodluck Jonathan are suspected of being behind the on-going crisis in the Niger Delta region.
Though the source said the level of complicity’ of the persons involved was yet to be determined by investigation, he explained that the continued detention of former national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), Mr Robert Azibola (Jonathan’s cousin) as well as the former president’s special assistant on domestic matters, Dr Waripamowei Dudafa had more to do with national security than financial misappropriation.
However, the decision to put close associated of the former president under watch over the attacks on oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta region by militants has attracted a backlash by some Nigerians who have faulted the administration of Muhammadu Buhari for not fishing out the sponsors of Boko Haram.
The critics of the administration also blasted the security forces for blaming Jonathan for the restiveness in the region and wondered why the administration has not arrested the Fulani herdsmen who have been attacking some communities across the country.
But some supporters of the Buhari administration on the other hand described the Niger Delta Avengers as terrorists who should be dealt with.
