Prominent Igbo monarch, Eze Desmond Ogugua has decried the position of Igbos in the present day Nigerian political structure.

Speaking to Igbere TV, Eze Ogugua lamented that Ndigbos are now treated as slaves in their own country.

The monarch cited the numerous abandoned road projects are all over Igbo land as one of the reasons for his stance.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to send a team of trust and sincere aides to Igbo land to see things for themselves.

According to him, despite the contribution of Igbos in the development of Nigeria the South East region has been neglected.

“We have no roads. We are now slaves in Nigeria,” Eze Ogugua opined.

The monarch also reserved harsh words for the Niger Delta Development Commission which he accused of  abandoning most of its  projects in Abia and Imo states.

He also alleged that Igbos are not regarded by the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We have suffered a lot, enough is enough, Buhari should order all the contractors on the abandoned projects to return back to sites and resume work on them”, Eze Ogugua said.

He also warned against dragging Ohaneze Ndigbo into politics, saying it would speed doom for Ndigbo.

Just recently, Igwe Hafford Agana from Enugu state berated President Buhari for going after his political opponents in the fight against corruption, adding that the president is only chasing shadows.

The monarch further urged President Buhari to address the challenges facing the nation, instead of witch-hunting his perceived political opponents.

Meanwhile, southern groups in Nigeria recently berated President Buhari over the appointment of mainly northerners to man the security apparatus of the nation.
