A youth group from Kogi state, Kogi Youths For Good Governance, has called for the suspension of Sen Dino Melaye following his altercation with Sen Oluremi Tinubu.
This comes even as the group staged a protest at the National Assembly on Thursday, July 21.
According to the coordinator of the group, Leke Richard, Senator Melaye has disgrace his constituency and the Nigerian Senate, Leadership reports.
Richard said they have already commenced the process to recall him (Melaye).
The group which stormed the premises at 9am, brandishing placards with inscriptions such as, “Dino Melaye is a disgrace to the Senate” and “We need development not fighting women”, warned that they would continue to stage their protest at the National Assembly until their demand is met.
Reports had last week emerged of a clash between Sen Melaye, representing Kogi West Senatorial District and Tinubu, representing Lagos Central, in a Senate close door session, where the Kogi Senator was alleged to have threatened to beat and impregnate his Lagos female counterpart.
Melaye has since denied threatening to either beat or impregnate her but admitted to the use of harsh words, while Tinubu had also written a petition to the Inspector General of Police, the Senate and the APC.
She later said she had forgiven Melaye as a Christian but maintained she won’t be intimidated.
